From bread waste to your plate — here's how it all works.

ABOUT WASTED

What is Wasted? / Can you tell me more about Wasted?

Wasted started around a dinner table in Copenhagen with one simple idea: the best way to fight food waste is to make something people genuinely want to eat. We rescue perfectly good bread that would otherwise go to waste and turn it into delicious pasta. Today, our pasta is served by chefs, stocked in stores, and shared at tables around the world.

Every pack helps rescue food, feed people, and prove that better food doesn't require more resources – just better ideas.

Why is Wasted called Wasted?

We think "wasted" doesn't mean something that's been thrown away. It means something that hasn't reached its potential yet. By turning rescued bread into delicious pasta, we're giving the word a whole new meaning—and proving that waste is often just a failure of imagination.

What is Wasted's mission?

Feed People, Not Landfills.

We're on a mission to keep good food in the food system by turning surplus bread into delicious pasta that never compromises on taste.

We believe the best way to fight food waste is to build products people genuinely want to eat. Every pack helps keep valuable ingredients in circulation, supports more local and circular food systems, and contributes to community meals through our giving program.

Less waste. Better Pasta.

Are you a non-profit organisation?

No. We're an impact-first business.

We believe the best way to tackle food waste is by creating products people choose every day. Every pack of Wasted helps rescue surplus bread, support community meals, and prove that doing good can also taste great.

Why is community important to Wasted?

Wasted didn't begin in a factory. It began around a shared dinner table.

We started hosting community dinners in Copenhagen, where rescued bread became pasta and strangers became friends. That spirit still guides everything we do.

Because food was never meant for landfills. It was meant to bring people together.

Why do chefs love Wasted Pasta?

Wasted was born in kitchens, created by chefs, cooks, and people who believe great food starts with respecting great ingredients.

That's why we love partnering with chefs—they immediately understand what we're doing. They know that turning perfectly good bread into delicious pasta isn't a compromise. It's exactly the kind of creativity that helps build a better food system.

Wasted proves that doing the right thing can taste incredible too.

How can I support Wasted's mission?

The easiest way is to cook Wasted Pasta and share it with people you care about.

Every pack you buy helps rescue surplus bread, support community meals, and prove that good food should never go to waste. Want to go a step further? Host a Wasted dinner at home. Invite your friends, cook together, and start a conversation about food waste around the table.

Because real change happens around shared tables.

THE PASTA

What is Wasted Pasta?

Wasted is premium pasta made with rescued bread and traditional pasta flour. We rescue perfectly good bread that would otherwise go to waste and give it a second life as something worth gathering around.

The result is pasta with a perfect al dente bite, a subtle toasted nutty bread flavor, and a simple way to help reduce food waste—one meal at a time. We donate 1 portion for every 10 sold to help feed food insecure members of the community.

Why is Wasted Pasta made from bread?

Because rescued bread makes better pasta.

It adds a richer, nuttier flavor, a satisfying bite, and a texture that holds sauce beautifully.

Bread and pasta have shared the same table for centuries. We're simply giving perfectly good bread a second life by turning it into one of the world's most beloved staples instead of letting it go to waste.

A better pasta. Made from rescued bread.

What is rescued bread?

Rescued bread is perfectly good bread that never gets the chance to be eaten. It may be overproduced, misshapen, or left over due to forecasting and packaging changes—but it's always fresh, safe, and high quality.

At Wasted, we rescue this bread directly from European bakeries, dry it, mill it into flour, and blend it with premium Italian durum wheat to create our pasta.

The result? A perfect al dente bite, a subtle toasted bread flavor, and one less loaf going to waste

Is rescued bread safe to eat?

Yes. The bread we use is fresh and perfectly safe and sourced directly from trusted European bakeries before it ever becomes waste.

Every batch is carefully inspected, dried, milled, and processed under strict food safety standards before becoming pasta. We only rescue bread that's suitable for human consumption—never spoiled or moldy bread.

Why shouldn't bread be wasted?

Bread is one of the world's most wasted foods, even though much of it is perfectly good to eat.

When edible food is thrown away, all the water, energy, land, and work that went into making it are wasted too. We believe good bread belongs on plates—not in landfills.

Why not just make regular pasta?

Because the most sustainable ingredient is often the one we already have.

We LOVE traditional pasta. But when millions of loaves of perfectly edible bread go uneaten every day, we saw an opportunity to make pasta differently.

We chose to give that bread a second life instead—creating exceptional pasta that's good for your plate and better for the food system.

Why make more, when we can waste less?

Why only 25% rescued bread?

Because that's where taste, texture, and impact come together.

After years of testing with chefs and food scientists, we found that replacing 25% of the wheat with rescued bread creates the perfect balance: exceptional flavor, the ideal al dente bite, and meaningful food waste reduction.

Could we use more? Maybe. But we refuse to compromise on taste. The best way to reduce food waste is to make tasty food people genuinely want to eat.

How is Wasted Pasta made?

We start by rescuing surplus bread from artisan European bakeries before it becomes waste. The bread is dried, milled into our fine signature bread flour and used as an ingredient in our pasta, which is 25% bread waste, and blended with premium Italian durum wheat.

From there, it's crafted using traditional pasta lines and slow drying methods to create pasta with exceptional texture and flavor.

What are the ingredients in Wasted Pasta?

Wasted Pasta is made with just a handful of simple ingredients: durum wheat semolina, rescued bread (wheat flour, salt, and yeast), Manitoba wheat flour, and vital wheat gluten.

That's it. No eggs, no binders, no additives, no preservatives. Just delicious, high-protein pasta made with rescued bread.

What shapes do you make?

Our pasta comes in four signature short shapes.

In the US, you'll find Penne, Shells, and Rotini. In Europe, we currently offer Casarecce.

As we grow, we'll continue expanding our lineup with new shapes—always made with rescued bread.

How much pasta is a portion?

A standard serving of dry pasta is 100g (3.5 oz) per person.

We use this as the benchmark for our donation program, so every 10 packs of Wasted help provide the equivalent of one pasta meal through our community partners. It's a simple, transparent way to measure the impact we're making together.

What's the shelf life of Wasted Pasta?

For the best flavor and texture, we recommend enjoying it within 2 years and storing it in a cool, dry place. Just like traditional dried pasta.

TASTE & NUTRITION

Why does Wasted Pasta taste so good?

Great pasta starts with great ingredients.

The combination of premium flour, durum wheat, rescued artisan bread, traditional pasta production, and slow drying creates a pasta with a rich flavor, satisfying texture, and subtle toasted notes you won't find in ordinary pasta. Try for yourself!

What makes Wasted different from regular pasta? / Is Wasted better than regular pasta? / Why choose Wasted instead of other pasta brands?

Most pasta begins with the same ingredients. Ours begins with an opportunity.

By combining premium durum wheat with rescued artisan bread, Wasted delivers exceptional taste, naturally high protein, and a simple way to help reduce food waste. Every pack proves that sustainability doesn't have to mean compromise—it can simply mean making better use of what's already here.

If you want exceptional taste, premium ingredients, and a simple way to help reduce food waste with every meal, Wasted offers something genuinely different.

We also believe great pasta should keep you satisfied. Thanks to its naturally high protein, complex carbohydrates, and satisfying texture, Wasted helps you feel fuller for longer while giving you steady energy for whatever comes next.

We don't think pasta has to choose between taste, nutrition, and impact. We think it can do all three.

The question isn't whether other pasta brands are good. It's whether your pasta can do more.

We think great pasta shouldn't just taste incredible—it should make a difference too. That's why every box of Wasted is made with rescued artisan bread, delivering exceptional taste while helping reduce food waste with every meal.

Is Wasted Pasta high in protein?

Yes. Wasted Pasta contains 21g of protein per 3.5 oz serving.

Its high protein content comes from a blend of premium durum wheat, rescued artisan bread, and vital wheat gluten. Together, these simple wheat-based ingredients create a pasta that's naturally rich in protein, with a satisfying texture and great bite.

No protein powders. No artificial additives. Just thoughtfully crafted pasta made from real ingredients.

Is Wasted Pasta high in carbohydrates?

Because bread and durum wheat are naturally rich in carbohydrates—the body's preferred source of energy.

That's what makes Wasted Pasta an excellent choice before long runs, hard training sessions, or whenever you simply need a satisfying meal.

Is Wasted Pasta good for athletes?

Absolutely.

Athletes need quality carbohydrates to fuel performance and recover well. Wasted Pasta delivers long-lasting energy, naturally high protein, and the same premium taste you'd expect from great pasta.

It's food that works as hard as you do.

Is Wasted Pasta vegan?

Our pasta recipe is made without eggs, dairy, or other animal-derived ingredients. It contains durum wheat semolina, rescued bread, Manitoba wheat flour, and vital wheat gluten.

Because we rescue bread from existing bakeries, we can't guarantee that every loaf was produced through an exclusively vegan process or in a dedicated vegan facility.

It's much like buying a loaf of bread from your local bakery—many breads are naturally plant-based, but ingredients, production methods, and facilities can vary.

If you follow a strict vegan lifestyle, we'd recommend applying the same approach you would when choosing bread.

Is Wasted Pasta gluten-free?

No. Wasted Pasta is made with premium durum wheat and rescued bread, so it naturally contains gluten. Gluten gives pasta its signature texture, chew, and structure.

If you have celiac disease or a gluten allergy, Wasted Pasta isn't the right choice. But if you can enjoy gluten, we think it's worth experiencing what rescued bread can become.

We're also working on an upcycled gluten-free pasta range, so more people can enjoy Wasted in the future. Stay tuned!

FOOD WASTE & IMPACT

How does buying Wasted reduce food waste?

The best way to reduce food waste is to eat the food we've already made.

Instead of letting edible bread go to waste, we turn it into pasta and keep it in the human food chain—where it belongs. Every meal helps make better use of the water, energy, land, and hard work that already went into producing that bread.

Reducing food waste is recognized as one of the world's biggest climate solutions according to Project Drawdown. We just happen to make it delicious.

What is the environmental impact of Wasted Pasta?

Our mission is simple: keep good food in the food system for longer.

By rescuing surplus bread, we preserve many of the resources already invested in making it—including the land, water, energy, and labor required to grow, mill, bake, and transport it. Using existing food is generally more resource-efficient than producing new ingredients from scratch.

Keeping edible food out of landfill matters too. When food waste decomposes in landfill, it generates methane—a potent greenhouse gas that contributes significantly to climate change.

We're currently completing a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to quantify the environmental impact of Wasted Pasta across our supply chain.

Why does every pack donate a meal? / What is the "giving model"?

Food was never meant for landfills. It was meant to bring people together!

That's why every pack of Wasted helps provide a portion of pasta through our local community partners. We believe fighting food waste and food insecurity go hand in hand.

Together with organizations like Food for Soul, The Felix Project, ReThink Food, JunkFood and FoodNotBombs, we're helping redistribute food into shared meals for everyone.

Because the best food isn't just rescued—it's shared.

It's simple: for every 1 kg of Wasted Pasta sold (the equivalent of 10 portions), we donate one pasta meal through our network of community partners supporting people experiencing food insecurity.

It's our way of making sure that as Wasted grows, our impact grows too. Every bowl you enjoy helps put another bowl on someone else's table.
